(TASI)
Multiplexing procedure primarily used in overseas and long distance transmission; maintains a connection while conversation is taking place but allows other conversations to access the line during silent periods. In other words, during a conversation, only one person speaks at one time, the other person is listening. TASI uses the listening part of the transmission and efficiently uses that silence for other data transmissions. See also
